Vor einem Vierteljahr konnten wir Ihnen an dieser Stelle ein echtes „Muß“ für Elvis Presley-Fans vorstellen, den Foto-Bildband mit drei CDs „Elvis Live In the 50s – The Complete Concert Recordings“. Das auf Elvis Presleys Werk spezialisierte Label Memphis Recording Service hatte akribisch Mitschnitte von Presleys Konzerten vom Oktober 1954 bis zum September 1957 zusammengetragen und in bestmöglicher Qualität remastert und restauriert auf die besagten drei CDs gebrannt.

Dem fügt Memphis Recording Service nun ein weiteres Elvis-Bonbon in gleicher Aufmachung hinzu: „Elvis On Television 1956-1960 – The Complete Sound Recordings“. Als der Junge aus Tupelo/Mississippi mit seinem revolutionären Sound und seinem Charisma zunächst die kleinen Bühnen, dann die lokalen Radio- und TV-Sender, schließlich die großen Bühnen eroberte, ließen sich die großen Sender wie CBS, NBC, ABC oder WHBQ und legendäre Showmaster wie Ed Sullivan, Milton Berle, Wink Martindale, Steve Allen und Frank Sinatra nicht lange bitten – Elvis wurde ihr begehrter Stargast. Mit vielen seiner berühmtesten Songs und an der Seite von Stars wie Joey Bishop (The Rat Pack), Dewey Phillips, Frank Sinatra, Nancy Sinatra und Sammy Davis jr. zeigte Elvis Presley seine großen Live-Qualitäten.
Die Auftritte und Interviews mit dem „King“, der er ja damals bereits war, zeichnen ein gutes Bild der 1950er in den USA, ihrer Pop-Kultur und der damals noch schwarz-weißen Fernseh-Landschaft. Die beiden CDs liegen in den stabilen Deckeln des chronologisch geordneten Bildbandes mit ca. Hundert brillanten ganzseitigen Fotos und Programmabläufen. Diese phantastische Sammlung ist ebenfalls ein unbedingtes Muß für Fans!
